Days at work fall under several categories. On a normal day, I feel fine, or even slightly achy. Pain is minimal, or medicated. I am productive at work, and have a pleasant disposition. Even moderate irritations can be laughed off, because “I like pie.” (Yes, that is meant to be random humor.) I usually find time to write at work, because there are moments when I must wait on my computer to think. Typically, I write anywhere from a paragraph to a page or two on a normal day.
Then there are bad days. Sometimes it’s bad because I feel continually irritated by something, or things just seem to be all going against me. More often, the phrase “bad day” is indicative of my pain level, and on a day such as that, chances are that the regular doses of Ibuprofen are barely even taking the edge off. This is when I try to write, just to distract myself because thinking about it only makes it seem worse. To be blunt and crude, these days suck. We’ve all had them - nobody likes them, and I wish they would just disappear, but they’re there all the same.
Last, there are the “good” days. Though they do not happen with any regularity, this is when everything clicks and I am totally in right brained mode. Things that might normally come with some difficult just work - whether it is drawing or a challenging part of a story. A good day means that I didn’t need any pain killers because the euphoria produced by this lasting awesomeness is sufficient.
The Matchstick Girl was written during an especially good day, all in one sitting (except I was standing). I’ve gotten good feedback from people who read it, and let me tell you… writing it was as intense an experience as I understand reading it can be; maybe more so. It was one of those times when the words clamored around inside my head, just waiting to escape to paper… and as soon as I started writing, I was gripped. Nothing else existed. When the last word hit the page and I could put my pen down, it was like coming up for air after being underwater for a while.
Good days are awesome. =D
A Brief Bit of Philosophy…
There are good days, and bad days. Because if there were never any bad days, how would we know the good ones?
May has got to be my busiest month of the year, hands down. Or at least, so far. Its the time of year when the weather is just start to be nice… gardens need to be planted, lawns need to be mowed, dogs need to be walked, and I find my Saturdays absolutely booked with chores of the household. Its just something that comes with still living with your parents…
We’ve had some reduced hours at work, so I have managed to get projects done (if only to clear the clutter!), and even to take pictures of process & finished stuff. It may be that this busyness is something that happens all summer long, every summer, and the only reason that I’ve noticed now is because I’ve started blogging again. I look at all the pictures I have of stuff I wanted to post and feel a bit of guilt…
So now that I can finally catch my breath (sort of), expect a bunch of posts in quick succession. But probably not until Sunday, ‘cause uhh… my Saturday is booked. >_>
This online dating thing…
It has mixed results.
Once, just once, I want somebody to message me on the chat client and after I say “Hello,” reply “I am Galstaff, Sorcerer of Light!”
To which I would reply “Then why did you have to cast Magic Missiles?” and general hilarity would ensue. But, alas, this does not happen. :(
In some ways, I wish I could always keep Lily like this. Think of the dust reduction! ^_^
The final installment of getting Lily running. Because yes, she is running. But first I had heatsink troubles…
The original idea was that I thought the heat was what caused everything to go boom. So when I finally got everything, I decided I wanted to replace the cpu heatsink so it wouldn’t happen again. I wanted to put in an Artic Cooling Alpine 64 Pro., but when I tried to fit it on the board the fins stuck out too far on the side and ran into a chipset heatsink.
“So what?” I say. “It fits on the socket [I think]. I’ll just cut that part off.”
So I did:

It wasn’t until afterwards that I was able to try and fit it on the socket… and to discover that it didn’t, after all, fit. So I did get something else, which also needed to be cut because it interfered with ram slots.
Whatever. It works now. I put Lily back together again and haven’t had any troubles since (knocks on wood). I want to take a dark picture to show the lights, but it might be a while.
Spring madness is… ok, really, it’s probably just beginning. I’ve just got a lull now, so I can get caught up on some things. Expect to see a whole bunch of posts right after each other… >_>
^_^
Close friend of mine is working on this with his dad. Go vote and spread the word!
Btw, you can technically vote twice per day: once using Facebook, once by text.
Cut-off gloves knitted with handspun Angora yarn
I’ve been working on these since a couple weeks before Christmas. Its been a little frustrating because I’m not really a knitter, and the original pattern didn’t have fingers. I finally have one done! Now to put the fingers on #1… >_>
Again with the awesomeness. I’ve been a fan of this guy for about 8 years now, and the original strips still grab me. I can’t believe he broke records!
